Print Management benefits

The top 5 most useful features of directprint.io

directprint.io is one of the top serverless print management solutions for education and enterprise. We’ve got a ton of great features in our SaaS offering so we reached out to our K-12, enterprise, and healthcare customers to ask their opinion on our top 5 print management features.

1. Printer configuration

Let’s face it, configuring your new printer fleet and adding them to your print management solution can be cumbersome. System admins are typically faced with the following list of activities:

  • Physically installing the new printer in its location.
  • Adding it to their print management solution.
  • Setting up the advanced finishing options.
  • Allocating printers to users.
  • Finally, sending that vital test print.

It’s is a long list of tasks, especially if you’re having to repeat this activity again and again.

Luckily, directprint.io allows you to create a template of a printer in your printer network.

By using the multi-clone feature, you can add as many rows as you have new printersEach row allows you to give your new printers unique names, select their physical locations, and provides the ability to update the IP address.

In a matter of moments, your new printers with all advanced finishing options and policies will be available for testing. Simple!

2. Advanced Finishing Options

The directprint.io client app is a universal print driver that we’ve written from the ground up. That means we’re able to do some really cool stuff for advanced finishing options which we believe to be unique in the print management space.

If you need advanced finishing options such as stapling, folding, hole-punching, booklet creation, etc. directprint.io will help.

Admins control whether to force or delegate advanced finishing options to end users – very smart.

Require advanced finishing options across a mixed fleet of printer manufacturers as well? Not a problem.

directprint.io has a set of common PPDs (configuration files that describe the specific printer capabilities) pre-configured in our cloud administration platform. We also allow you to upload any manufacturer-provided PPDs giving you the flexibility to support all of the finishing options that your MFP supports.

Check out the video on how to configure advanced finishing options here.

3. Unmanaged / BYOD Printer Allocation

directprint.io is the most integrated Google Workspace print management solution out there, with 7 different deployment methods.

However, we understand that printer allocation for unmanaged users and BYODs should be frictionless.

To make printer allocation for BYODs and unmanaged users as easy as possible, directprint.io uses an awesome feature called QuickCodes.

QuickCodes are made up of four types:

Static QuickCodes – The QuickCode provides access to a printer until the user decides to remove the printer from their app.

Fixed expiry – The QuickCode has a validity window, ideal for conference printer access, for example.

Duration access – The QuickCode grants access to one or more printers for a specific duration e.g. 1 hour at a time.

Single-use – The QuickCode can be used once only, think voucher.

4. Label & POS Printing

As well as supporting a huge range of printers and MFPs, directprint.io also supports receipt (POS) and label printers.

Use our label & point of sale printer set up wizard to easily add label and POS printers. You can find a full list of the supported label and POS printers here.

5. API access

We’re a SaaS-based print management solution and we know we won’t support every feature that you might ever need, however, we are always open to hearing feedback and requests from our customers.

For our more technical customers, we have an open API allowing our customers to drive custom workflows or to help with the mass import and manipulation of printers within our system.
